The Sheet Metal department at the Otis Service Center, in Bloomfield, CT, is seeking a Sheet Metal operator who sets-up and fabricates a wide variety of intricate sheet metal parts and assemblies. The ideal candidate will use shears, brakes, rollers, expanders, arbor press, drills, and hand tools, and will work from blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions. Following all EH&S and safety policies and procedures is required. Physical Demand: If an item weighs more than 50 lbs., employee must ask for assistance in lifting and/or use the appropriate crane, forklift or other lifting devises Walking, balancing, climbing, standing, twisting/turning, bending/stooping, crawling, crouching, kneeling/squatting, sitting, reaching above shoulder height, reaching forward, lifting (maximum 50 pounds), carrying, pushing/pulling, handling, feeling, digital dexterity, wrist flexion/extension, power grip, working speed, talking, hearing, seeing (with color vision) depth perception Must be able to wear/use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment. Education / Certifications: The successful candidate must have a High School diploma or equivalent. A certificate from a trade school, or 3 to 5 years relative experience is required. Experiences / Qualifications: The ability to set-up and operate multi-axis NC/CNC press brakes is required The individual determines dies required and sequence of bends, and may calculate bend deductions, allowances, or angles. Qualifies first piece and performs ongoing inspection throughout production run The individual should possess a positive attitude, with the ability to work independently Must have good interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
